Mindful Recovery Gentle Flow Class

New Class with Michelle, Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am

In what area of your life are you looking for some serenity and some recovery? Physical? Mental? Emotional? Spiritual? Relational?

Using timeless yogic wisdom, foundational principles of the twelve steps, and yoga asana (postures), this class will explore a different theme each month as we embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing. This class is open to and appropriate for all levels, beginner to advanced.

A third Rope Wall class!

Beginning January 2nd, we add a third rope wall class to the schedule.

Monday Mornings at 9:30 am, starting January 2nd. This will be our third weekly rope wall class on the schedule. Monday mornings and Wednesday mornings at 9:30 (class is limited to only 8, so sign up online), in addition to Saturday mornings at 10:30 am (class is open to 16, sign up online to guarantee a spot; spots are first come first serve after those who have signed up online).

Upcoming Workshop: Intro to yoga series (four part series)

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn the basics of yoga and the yoga lifestyle with one of our most talented teachers at Studio Seva. You will have four weeks to meet with Stephanie to learn the yoga lingo, how to relax, how to get moving, and how to be more mindful. Most importantly, you will learn how to make this a lifestyle change right in time for the new year!

SESSION 1 - BASIC PRACTICE (January 10, 5:30 - 6:30 pm)
What is yoga? Why do we practice it? Learn the basics of yoga lingo, including hatha, asana, pranayama, vinyasa, and namaste. This first session will include a 30 minute basic practice breaking down principles of movement practice and linking breath with movement.

SESSION 2 - RELAXING PRACTICE (January 17, 5:30 - 6:30 pm)
Discover how yoga can help you relax and relieve stress. Learn about the props and how to use them, how to safely stretch, what restorative yoga is, and why it's helpful. This session will include a 45 minute gentle practice.

SESSION 3 - ACTIVE PRACTICE (January 24, 5:30 - 6:30 pm)
What makes a yoga practice different than other exercise? Learn the basic qualities of a yoga practice, including balancing effort and ease, linking breath with movement, practicing discernment between what poses are helpful and what poses aren't helpful, and developing relationships with each pose (rather than having goals in them). This session will include a 45 minute practice, including sun salutes and the basic vinyasa flow.

SESSION 4 - MINDFUL PRACTICE (January 31, 5:30 - 6:30 pm)
What is mindfulness? What is meditation? How do they relate to hatha yoga? Why meditation is so hard, and how can yoga make it easier? Learn some breathing techniques that help prepare you for meditation, and learn to focus on the present moment through movement practice. This session will include a 45 minute practice, including a guided mindfulness meditation.
