All Levels Yoga
All levels yoga is our go to at Studio Seva. All of the classes are taught to all levels, and will provide modifications and specific progressions for each practitioner. This class is the most offered class on the schedule so all Seva members and visitors can practice together at different levels and intensities. The Studio Seva community offers support and celebration when we move through progressions that both challenge and satisfy our yoga practice.
You will experience strengthening, stretching, balancing, and play. This class will offer options to prepare, build skills, and practice arm balances and inversion.
This is a great class to begin with if you are brand new to yoga, but even better if you are a continuing student of yoga. You will learn or re-learn the basics of the yoga practice and the yoga postures. Alignment and building the foundation of the practice are the main focus in the basics class. The pace will be moderate, and you will be provided modifications and progressions to learn the postures and transitions.
This class starts off with slow, dynamic movement and continuously flows for the next 45 minutes. Moving from standing to seated to inversions and back to standing. You'll experience true breath guided movement, allowing your breath to be the guide and your movement to float on the breath. The last 15 minutes of class will end with long, soothing stretches to ease into a well deserved relaxation.
Gentle yoga to wind down at the end of the night or to wake up in the morning. Gentle yoga, for some, is the new advanced yoga. Taking a gentle approach to health and fitness may seem ineffective, but the reality is that our nervous system needs balance in a world of over stimulation. Gentle yoga will help reduce stress (the main cause of disease, illness, and poor lifestyle habits) and still provide smart movement for the body. Gentle yoga will offer equal parts movement and relaxation for those who find it hard to pause and be still. Restorative yoga meets body awareness focused movements. This is an all levels class, suitable for beginners and continuing students of the yoga practice.
This class combines Yoga Nidra and restorative yoga for the ultimate relaxation experience. You will use props to support your body in a restorative posture while guided through a sensory awareness practice. This class deepens your understanding of you body, mind, and emotions. Eliminate stress and tension with this nurturing practice. This class is all levels...take this opportunity to pause and restore your bodies that do so much for you on your mat.
Named after and developed by B.K.S Ieyengar, this style of yoga has an emphasis on alignment and detail of each posture. Using props such as blocks, bolsters, blankets, belts, and the rope wall allow for a deeper study of each posture and more stillness in each asana so your body can intelligently learn the asanas. This practice is perfectly designed for all levels and abilities. Use of the props helps minimize risk of injury and allows students of all levels to practice postures, simple to complex.
Mindful Recovery Gentle flow
In what area of your life are you looking for some serenity and some recovery? Physical? Mental? Emotional? Spiritual? Relational? Using timeless yogic wisdom, foundational principles of the twelve steps, and yoga asana (postures), this class will explore a different theme each month as we embark on a journey of self-discovery and healing. This class is open to and appropriate for all levels, beginner to advanced.
Power Yoga/Power Flow
In Power Yoga, you will tap in to your inner power and play with deep core movements and twists to strengthen your body. All movement begins in the spine and the core, which is why we offer this class: to deepen that power and strengthen your center axis. Power yoga will build strength, but it won't forget about the benefits of a nice deep stretch. Quite often more power is to be found in pausing in a deep stretch and enjoying the heat and core awareness present even in stillness. This class will be challenging, but always adaptable to all levels. Each practitioner has the option to deepen or soften the expression throughout the practice to tap into his or her own core power. Enjoy the option for arm balances, inversions, and progressions that will prepare you for these postures. The work is in the trying, not the doing.
Yoga Rope Wall
The rope wall is all levels and is especially helpful for beginners to learn the basic yoga postures by using the rope stations for alignment, balance, and perspective. Yoga Rope Wall offers gentle and deep stretching, progressive strengthening, and improved balancing. The Rope Wall system offers two sets of ropes for practitioners to use for balance and assistance in difficult balancing postures and strong standing postures. If you lack strength or ability to enjoy inversions, the Yoga Rope Wall is a great way to get upside down without fear or stress. Let the rope wall help you to get upside down with a calm approach, and enjoy the benefits of inversions. You will also gain strength and balance to eventually move into challenging postures on your own. The rope wall is used as a prop to help all levels of yoga practitioners experience the multitude of postures that exist to strengthen and heal the body.
Yoga Tune Up®
Yoga Tune Up® is a blend of traditional yoga asana and corrective exercise principles used to highlight joint mobility and stability. Therapeutic self-massage techniques using specially designed therapy balls enhance this unique combination of stretching, mobilization, and relaxation work. This practice may include work at the rope wall, as well as the use of other props to facilitate myofascial release and gentle relaxation. This class is led by certified YTU teacher, Tiffany Holmes.
