Mixed Aerial Apparatus Classes

A fun acrobatic class using Lyra (aerial hoops), Corde Lisse (aerial ropes), Corde Volante (cloud swing, static), and Tissu (aerial silks).
Lyra (Aerial Hoop)
A steel hoop suspended from the ceiling, rigged from one tab or two tabs to offer different hand placements and different acrobatic skills. The hoop can spin, swing, or stay static while in use. Moving around the hoop, above and below, inside and outside, the aerial artist creates a strong yet graceful dance while spinning and swinging in the air.
Tissu (Aerial Silks)
Silk fabric suspended from the air and split into two ribbons. Aerial artists use the fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral their bodies into and out of various positions. The basic moves on aerial silks include: climbs, wraps, and drops. Climbs, wraps, and drops are woven together to create a beautiful dance in the air.
Corde Lisse (Smooth Rope)
Aerial circus skill that involves acrobatics on a vertical rope. Working on the rope includes a combination of held postures, and drops. The ropes are made out of soft cotton, strongly braided and woven to create a thick, smooth rope. Basic climbs, wraps, and drops are some of the main skills practiced on the rope. Grip strength and spatial body awareness are important in this art.
Corde Volante (Cloud Swing)
A rope suspended from the ceiling in the shape of a "U" or "V" at a lower level than the traditional Mexican Cloud Swings used in the circus. The static cloud swing offers less front to back swinging movement for safer and slower exploration of acrobatic skills. The cloud swing is made of soft cotton rope which resembles the smooth rope (corde lisse). The cloud swing is a relatively newer apparatus in the aerial arts, and adopts many of its poses and moves from the static or swinging trapeze.
The Static Trapeze is an aerial apparatus consisting of a bar hung from ropes. Unlike the flying trapeze, this one generally stays in place. Climbing, inverting, rolling and turning every which way on these apparatuses, students discover their center of gravity in many different positions. You will learn how to move from different positions with grace and ease while gaining strength and control. On the trapeze you will learn to use the bar and ropes to pose, invert, balance and transition into different positions.
Mixed Aerial Apparatus Classes:
Learn acrobatic skills and tricks on a variety of aerial apparatus all. You will learn basics to advanced skills and poses on each piece of apparatus while building strength and confidence. This is a fun alternative to fitness classes and strength training. You will build upper body, core, and leg strength as well as increase mobility in hips, legs, and shoulders. Aerial arts are expressive, fun, and playful.
Mixed Aerial apparatus Freestyle:
Come play! Whether you are practicing climbing the rope, mounting the hoop, or working on your new pose, you can work at your own pace with the supervision of a trained instructor. In the freestyle class, students will be able to work their own tricks, progressions, transitions, and mini sequences. An instructor will be there to assist and spot. You are welcome to attend the whole hour or even just a few minutes to get a quick burst of strength training--or break up your day with a little freestyle play!
